Chicago Kickstarter Takes Technology to the Next Level

According to NBC Chicago, Derek Tarnow, 26, and Zahra Tashakorina, 28, recent graduates from the Illinois Institute of Technology Institute of Design, turned a class project into a professional concept, which ended up catching the attention Logitech. The technology accessory company sent a message to Tarnow and Tashakorina’s Kickstarter account, showing their interest in the invention. This is the first time the company has decided to reach out the a start-up idea for collaboration. This can be taken as an example that illustrates how building products based on user centered design can always be appreciated.

The two entrepreneurs invented TidyTilt. The iPhone-case-cum-earbud-cord-organizer prevents the earbud cord from getting tangled and can be turned into a small smart phone stand when folded. Tarnow and Tashakorina put the product on Kickstarter with the goal to raise $10,000 but ended up with $223,174. So of course, both inventors agreed to sign the deal. Now, Tarnow is at Logitech as a product designer and Tashakorina will be a consultant working for the company.

These two young partners worked hard to realize their dreams, and with a little creativity, they were able to make a great business deal.
